Electronic music hallmarks

I’d like to share with you a list of my all-time favourite ambient, downtempo and experimental albums ! I’ve been into that kind of music for about 9-10 years now. It’s been helping me to explore my conscious and subconscious mind since 2005.

So here are albums that i consider most unique, hallmarks of these genres.

Biosphere – Substrata (Geir Jenssen. 1997)

Mystical Sun – Primordial atmospheres (Richard Plom. 1994)

Boards of Canada – Geogaddi (Mike Sandison, Marcus Eoin. 2002)

H.U.V.A. Network – Distances (Magnus Birgersson & Vincent Villuis. 2004)

Astropilot – Solar Walk III – Event Horizon (Dmitry Redko. 2014)

Between Interval – The Edge of a Fairytale (Stefan Strand. 2009)

Carbon Based Lifeforms – World of Sleeprs (Daniel Segerstad, Johannes Hedberg. 2006)

H.I.A., Biosphere – Polar Sequencies (Robert Bird, Geir Jenssen. 1996)

Aes Dana – Aftermath (Vincent Villuis, 2003)

Solar Fields – Reflective Frequencies (Magnus Birgersson. 2001)

I could write at very least a paragraph about each of them, but honestly it’s better to listen it and feel it by yourself.

There are many other albums that I like very much, but I decided to go with classic top-10 scheme here.

Also, i’d like to point out that there are great tracks, which I really like (i’ll probably make another top list regarding tracks only some day), but here it’s all about albums.

If you, like me enjoy that kind of deep and mysterious music, and somehow you missed some of these albums, I advice to give them a try (many of them, if not all, are available on youtube, soundcloud, etc).
